Presentation: Planning

PRE production

To begin the presentation planning I wanted to consider what I want to say about myself and level 5.

John's recommendations:

- Who are you? What makes you want to be a creative?
My strengths and weaknesses have really become apparent this year so I want to build upon these, both positives and negatives as they are evident through my work.

Personally I really wanted to talk about how my year has improved. At the beginning of the year I was bed ridden for a few weeks and it really affected my mental health as well as physical. This in turn made it hard for me to do any work and lead to poor outcomes I wasn't happy with. As my year has gone on I have gotten healthier and my mental state is a lot less fragile and I am a lot happier which I think shows in my work and the quality of  outcomes I am producing.

I also wanted to talk about the exhibition that I helped to put on and run as it was a personal achievement and important that I was working with another group of people. I am proud of the outcome.


Workwise I have really improved throughout the year and wanted to show this improvement in the presentation.

In COP I really struggled with time management, and I created something that could have been taken a lot further to create a more finalised project. I was unhappy with the outcome. (unsure whether I will include this).

Wayfinding presentation with the group was a cool concept and we handled it well (will be included in pitching section).

My favourite module as I created refined outcomes I was happy with and produced and photographed these professionally.
Secret 7 was created in a minimal style, something new to me. Cool concept + short brief
Penguin was again a quick project and new illustrative style. Also worked to a timetable the best on this project and was able to create something good for a live brief.
Tea brief opened up an interest in packaging. Loved the outcomes for this brief.
Kim's project opened up collaboration between us.
Collab led to the exhibition.

Book - interesting to look at someone else's interest and create project from this. Was not happy with outcome (due to illness)
App - opened interest in UX design. wasn't able to make professional but want to improve.

Book was project on something I was interested in. Loved research surprisingly and freedom of brief. Collabed with fashion photographer.

POST production
After I created my presentation I planned what I wanted to say and wrote out 2.5 pages of notes so I could practice and reread them before the presentation so I would be confident.

Term 1

illness and anxiety held me back in the first module. Found it hard to readjust after summer and get into the swing of things workwise.

In terms of work I created a publication I wasn't happy with at all. Fell behind as said prior. App design was interesting and first venture into UX/UI which I loved. lacked software which made look unprofessional.

Term 2

responsive stressful but favourite. really good swing of working. interesting ideas and concepts. managed to produce and photograph professionally (improving on one of my earlier stated weaknesses).

Secret 7 - quick brief (which I produce best work under). cool concept.

Tea - opened up an interest in packaging.

Kim - branded lvl 6 photographer who I have continued to collaborate with and doing work for currently. Collaborated with on exhibition...

Hue exhibition

did work for.

held at LS6, theme primary colours, 30 + artists from Leeds, Scotland, Spain, Canada

85+ pieces of art, photo, painting, design, sculpture. Fun evening, good to work with other people.

Term 3

publication skills improved after term 1. book on interesting subject and surprisingly liked the research basis. happier with outcome. collabed with fashion photograpgher for lookbook section.

enjoyed freedom within brief but not as much as responsive.

Had some issues but overall created an outcome we were really happy with and boosted confidence for this presentation. worked well in a group, organised well and came up with good concept.

Xvavi studios, set up interview, cancelled so chased up through email. was meant to meet in Rum Kitchen which he had branded. Shows professional problems.

w12 studios junior prodcut designer. UI/UX interest so applied and interview in process.

branding coming this summer. know myself personally and creatively better this year so want to take time to create presence. Putting together portfolio website and instagram

UI/UX inspired by app, hopefully skills will be improved by internship. learn after effects and XD
editorial - after publication improvement want to continue on with this.
packaging - tea brief was my favourite so want to do extended essay on this subject focusing on health food packaging. one of my strengths. excited to do this.

Massively improved from first year to second year so want to keep doing that.
