Visually presenting your identity

Dribbble is an amazing platform for designers.

Email - make it different. Unique and original emails will capture more attention than just plain wording, making it more likely you will receive a response.
Could be a PDF including an odd/ funny picture, something that will make your email stand out and be remembered.

Telephone - a lot of people are scared to call a studio/agency/person but it is a direct contact
it can often ensure contact with the person you are trying to reach as it is harder to avoid and you can't ignore it like you can an email.

Letter - a letter shows commitment and application - taking the time to write a letter makes the contact more personal than an email.
You can be incredibly creative again, similar to the email.
It often keeps relationships going (like pen pals), and these relationships provide friends in industry that will help you.

Mailer - created/printed piece especially for them. This is the most creative option as you could mail anything - zine, buttons, tin with stuff in, coasters etc.

Go in person - even harder to ignore than a phone call, can be cheeky but being there in person shows confidence and dedication plus more likely to get a response if it goes well.

In this lesson we also set up LinkedIn accounts which is a great networking platform to easily promote yourself and your work and connect with many people from yours and different professions.

What I took away from this lesson was to think differently about how I will try and get noticed and get my work out into the world. If I go down the same route as many have before my work will not stand out at all and I will not get as much notice. Being original and creative is a positive thing as it will make my work memorable. When I establish myself as a working designer i would love to create a fun and exciting mailer to send to companies.
